The Illuminati is a secret society that was founded by Adam Weishaupt on May 1, 1776 in the Bavarian region of Austria. Adam Weishaupt was a Jesuit professor of Canon law at Ingoldstaldt College in southern Germany. The goals of the Illuminati are to foster rationalism and combat religious dogmas. -Mark R. Rowe
