Why is it that so many white Americans are ignorant to the culture, traditions, religions, and art of regions of the world outside of the U.S. to include nation states in southeast Asia? Have these people ever taken a world history class during their life? Have they ever traveled to a city further east than Lisbon or futher south that Bogota? Why do some Americans equate a Japanese Art called Origami with paper mache and paper craft? This level of ignorance disturbs me, while knowing that some Americans lack so much knowledge about the rest of the world.
